Thinking in matchups
How to adjust your game plan to the opponent.
A deck does not play the same in every matchup. Aggro against control is fundamentally different from aggro against aggro.
SCENARIO
You are playing an aggro deck. Your opponent is on a slow control deck.
How do you adjust your game plan?
Rethinking after the first game
Five minutes against an unfamiliar deck tell you three things you did not know before: how fast it is, what its Leader is driving at, and which counters it plays.
Adjust two things accordingly: your Life threshold — against a fast deck you stop taking damage sooner — and your attack targets: against a deck that builds a board, attack the board, not the Leader.
And remember the counters your opponent has shown. A +2000 spent on a 5000 attack usually means they had no +1000 in hand. Your next calculation gets sharper because of it.
